From the Beginning…
Welcome!
We couldn’t be more excited to be starting this journey with you all. A Ring of Hope has been a long time in the making, existing in different shapes and forms in the hearts and minds of everyone that has come together to turn it into a reality. But it would do us all a disservice to not recognize the real visionary of A Ring of Hope, our Board President, Jamie Jockwig, and the passion project that brought us to fruition, Baraka Orphanage.
Jamie’s experience with non-profit work in the past shone a light on things he believed could be done better, specifically cultural sensitivity and respect. He dreamt of a non-profit that asks a community what they need, instead of telling them what they need. And because of that dreaming, we now have A Ring of Hope!
We all have within us a desire to do good in the world, but the children of Kosele, Kenya have inspired us to make it happen. Not only is Baraka Orphanage the impetus for A Ring of Hope, it is our first partnered project. Jamie has been supporting the construction of this orphanage and its community for years by way of his jewelry business and other non-profits. But now we get to embark on supporting them first-hand, and together!
There is so much more to say about each of our volunteers, the children that inspire us, and our desires to share ourselves and resources with those in need. I hope you’ll come back for updates as we continue our mission of surrounding vulnerable youth with the support structures necessary to pave the way for a self-sustainable future.
Best,
Caley
