Giving Tuesday Involvement

A Ring of Hope celebrates Giving Tuesday with the children that we are supporting in Kosele, Kenya. We are joining millions around the world participating in the global generosity movement on December 1, 2020.

A Ring of Hope is responding in order to surround vulnerable youth with the support structures necessary to pave the way for a self-sustainable future. Our first project is in Kosele, Kenya where COVID has affected children in dramatically different ways than what we are seeing here. This virus caused schools to shut down, removing children from school, which was the only safe haven many of them had. This caused many children to suffer unnecessarily. Young children are being forced, out of desperation from their parents, to work in inhumane conditions, to be married off for economic gain, and/or to leave their modest homes in hopes of a brighter tomorrow.  Through A Ring of Hope’s aid, four families have already been empowered by having basic food needs met.  With our work only beginning and Giving Tuesday on the horizon, we have set some big goals for ourselves, and have been working to steadily chip away at them since their inception. But our community here in Seattle can help us achieve the rest of these goals and celebrate the goals we have accomplished!

  1. We have a $5,000 fundraising goal. We have raised more than half of these funds and would love your support in completing this goal.

  2. We had a goal to find 3 new volunteers. But thanks to the amazing community surrounding us, we have successfully filled those roles. We’ll make introductions soon!

  3. We had a goal of tripling our social media following on Facebook and Instagram, and WE DID IT! Thanks to everyone that helped to spread the word!  On Facebook we have grown from  43 followers  to 321 and on Instagram from 22 to 103 - we owe you all a BIG thank you!

  4.  We still have a goal to establish 2 small business partnerships.

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world. GivingTuesday will kick off the generosity season this year by inspiring people to give back on December 1, 2020, and throughout the year.

A Ring of Hope joined GivingTuesday seeing this as a chance to help spread our mission and the impact we can have when we all come together.  As a new non-profit, our community is small, so our impact is just beginning. We are confident that with the build up to GivingTuesday we can reach these BIG goals to help make our impact BIG.

GivingTuesday was launched in 2012 as a simple idea: to create a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past eight years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. People demonstrate generosity in many ways on GivingTuesday. Whether it’s helping out a neighbor, showing up for people we care about, or giving to causes we care about, every act of generosity counts.

GivingTuesday has raised billions of dollars for critical causes around the world and gets 14.2 billion impressions on social media from people and organizations speaking up for the causes that matter to them and encouraging others to get involved.

"GivingTuesday inspires people all around the world to embrace their power to drive progress around the causes they care about, not just on one day but throughout the year." said Asha Curran, GivingTuesday’s CEO, and co-founder. "With country and community leaders, millions of organizations, and countless givers of all kinds, GivingTuesday is creating a shared space where we can see the radical implications of a more generous world."

Our president, Jamie Jockwig, invites you to celebrate with us in saying, "Giving is a frame of mind that is born from a heart of gratitude. It is our hope that this Giving Tuesday, December 1, you will join us in expressing our collective gratefulness for life, liberty and the opportunity to make the world a more beautiful place for everyone."
